Pasquale, Prezioso and White recognized by College Sports Madness
PHILADELPHIA – Three Temple softball players have earned preseason all conference accolades for the 2013 season. Juniors Stephanie Pasquale, Sarah Prezioso and Brooklin White have been named to the College Sports Madness Atlantic 10 Preseason All Conference Team. Pasquale and Prezioso were named to the first team, while White represents TU on the second team.
Pasquale, a catcher from Pompton Lakes, N.J., finished 2012 second on the team in batting (.319). A 2012 A-10 First-Team selection, Pasquale was even better in conference play, hitting .385. Her 14 total doubles were tops on the team, and that total tied the Temple single-season record. For the second year in a row, her strikeout total was in single digits (7) and she was the 41st toughest player to strikeout in the nation.
Prezioso had an impressive sophomore campaign, leading the team with a .351 average, which was the third-best average among all Atlantic 10 players and earned her a spot on the conference first team. The Bloomfield, N.J. native hit a sizzling .426 in conference-only play. In addition to her team-leading batting average, the shortstop was also tops on the squad in hits (54), slugging percentage (.526), triples (3) and RBI (39). Her hit total tied for sixth on TU's single-season list, while the RBI total tied for the second-best all-time in a campaign.
On the mound, White paced the Owls with a 14-11 record with three shutouts. The 14 wins placed the Temecula, Calif. native in the Temple single-season top ten. Her 3.36 ERA was second on the team, and with 98 strikeouts on the year, White recorded the eighth-best single-season total in school history.
Temple, which made its second-straight appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2012, will look to improve on its 27-22 (12-6 A-10) record from a season ago. The 2013 Owls get the season underway on February 22 at the Elon Invitational, squaring off against Hampton in a 6:45 p.m. game.
