News & Notes Following Temple 30-7 loss vs. Louisville
The Owls trailed at halftime 24-0. It was the fourth time in five games that the Owls trailed after 2 qtrs. For the third time, however, Temple won the second half, this time 7-6. In fact, in the past three games, the Owls have outscored their opponents 50-32 in the second half. And, for the season, TU has a 36-26 advantage in the 4th Q.
The Owls inserted freshman QB P.J. Walker in the 3rd series of the game trailing 17-0. Walker was 10-19 for 182 yards and one TD and rushed 12 times for 67 yards. He also was sacked 4 times and had one INT.
Walker connected on a 58-yard pass to WR Robby Anderson – the longest play from scrimmage for the Owls thus far this season.
WR Jalen Fitzpatrick scored on a 9-yard pass from Walker with 0:38 remaining; it was Walker's first career TD pass.
True freshman DT Averee Robinson recorded his first career sack. DT Matt Ioannidis added his third sack of the season.
The Owls defensive had 6 tackles for loss. Sophomores Ioannidis (2 TFLs) and MLB Rob Dvorcek, and true freshmen LB Sharif Finch, Robinson and DE Kiser Terry accounted for those stops.
WR Robby Anderson made the first start of his career and DT Hershey Walton made his first start of the season.
Of the 22 starters vs. Louisville, only 10 started on opening day. Only nine players have started every game at the same position this season – RB Kenneth Harper, WR Jalen Fitzpatrick, LG Jeff Whittingham, C Kyle Friend, LBs Tyler Matakevich and Blaze Caponegro, CB Anthony Robey, FS Abdul Smith and SS Stephaun Marshall.
Louisville's WR DeVante Parker entered the game with an NCAA best streak of 10 games with a TD. He did not score and left the game with an injury by the end of the first qtr.
