Montel Harris Invited to NFL Combine

PHILADELPHIA – For the third consecutive year, a Temple football player has been invited to the NFL Combine.
All-American running back Montel Harris (Jacksonville, Fla.) will participate in the 2013 NFL Combine in Indianapolis to be held Feb. 20-26 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The annual NFL Combine provides more than 300 college players the opportunity to showcase their skills and meet with each of the 32 NFL teams head coaches, coaching staffs, personnel directors, and scouts in preparation of the 2013 NFL Draft. The NFL Combine will be televised on the NFL Network and NFL.com.
A preseason All-American and a 2012 first-team All-BIG EAST honoree, Harris led the nation with 27 career 100-yard rushing games, including five with TU in 2012. He led Temple and the BIG EAST in rushing with 1,054 yards and 12 touchdowns on 196 carries on the season. Harris rushed for career highs of 351 yards and seven touchdowns (both school records and BIG EAST records) at Army. He played in the East-West Shrine Game®.
In 2012, junior All-American RB Bernard Pierce (Ardmore, Pa.), senior TE Evan Rodriguez (North Bergen, N.J.), and senior LB Tahir Whitehead (Newark, N.J.) participated in the Combine. Pierce was a third round pick (overall) by the Baltimore Ravens, who won the Super Bowl earlier this month. Rodriguez was a fourth round selection (111th pick overall) by the Chicago Bears, while Whitehead was a fifth round pick (138th pick overall) by Detroit Lions.
In 2011, senior S Jaiquawn Jarrett (Brooklyn, N.Y.), senior LB Elijah “Peanut” Joseph (Hartford, Conn.), and junior DT Muhammad Wilkerson (Linden, N.J.) were invited to the Combine. Wilkerson was a first round pick (30th overall) by the New York Jets, while Jarrett was a second round selection (54th overall) by the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 2013 NFL Draft is slated for April 25-27 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The first round will start on Thursday, April 25 at 8 p.m. The second and third rounds are set for Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. Rounds four through seven will be held on Saturday, April 27 at Noon. It will be televised by the NFL Network.
