2.12.13 | Football

PHILADELPHIA – Former Temple football player Kevin Harvey (1997-99) will be among 15 inductees into the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame on March 1 at Auletto's Caterers in Almonesson, N.J.

Harvey, considered one of South Jersey's greatest quarterbacks, set passing, scoring and rushing records at Paulsboro High School.  The Red Raiders dominated Colonial Conference and Group I sectional football competition throughout the mid-1990s. A 1995 USA Today All-American and Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area Player of the Year, Harvey finished with more than 8,000 total career yards of offense in his illustrious career and was easily the most productive player of his generation. The 1996 graduate is New Jersey's all-time scoring leader with 101 touchdowns and 656 points.

At Temple, Harvey played quarterback and defensive back. Guiding the Owls' offense in 1997 and 1998, he went 37-of-71 for 571 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 272 yards and a touchdown.  In 1999, Harvey started 10 games on defense, racking up 41 tackles and six interceptions.  He also returned seven punts for 56 yards.

Following graduation, Harvey enjoyed a stint in the Arena Football League, and was recently inducted into the South Jersey Football Coaches Hall of Fame.
