Three Softball Players Ranked in Top-50 of National Statistics Categories
3.12.13 | Softball
PHILADELPHIA – Three Temple softball players sit in the top-50 of five different categories of the national statistics, released for the first time this season on Monday, March 11. Senior Gina Sciarrone (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) is present in one category, while juniors Stephanie Pasquale (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) and Sarah Prezioso (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) are on three and two lists, respectively.
In a category that may not be great to be a part of, Sciarrone sits at second on the hit by pitch per game list. Through 13 games played, the first baseman has been hit nine times.
Pasquale is present in the doubles per game, toughest to strikeout and RBI per game categories. In 14 games, Pasquale has clubbed six doubles, which ranks as the 18th best per game total in the country. For the third year in a row, she is proving patient at the plate, striking out just once so far this season for the 20th best mark. And finally, with 17 RBI, the cleanup hitter has the 31st best average in the nation.
Prezioso is right there alongside Pasquale with her 17 runs batted in through 14 games for a rank of 31. In addition, the speedy shortstop has stolen eight bases, in eight attempts, to rank 41st in the nation in swipes per game.
The Owls are 5-9 after playing in three tournaments to open the season. The squad heads to Florida one more time on March 15-17 to take part in the City of Clearwater Spring Invitational. Play gets underway for the Cherry & White with an 11 a.m. game against Boston College on Friday.
