PHILADELPHIA - The last two undefeated Atlantic 10 lacrosse teams will battle it out on Friday as Temple heads to #13 Massachusetts for a 4:00 p.m. contest. Both teams stand at 3-0 with four conference games left to play. The Owls will be playing closer to home on Sunday as they head up Broad Street to La Salle for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
Temple (8-4, 3-0) has outscored its three A-10 opponents 41-18 so far, and is off to its best league start since 2008. It started with a close, 7-6 win at Saint Joseph's, followed by a decisive, 18-3 win vs. St. Bonaventure. Most recently, the Owls traveled to Duquesne and came away with a 16-9 victory.
Seniors Charlotte Swavola and Stephany Parcell have been dominant of late, scoring 21 of the Owls' 41 goals in the last three games, and combining for six of the 14 assists. With 99 career draw controls including 14 in the last three games alone, Parcell now ranks seventh all-time in program history.
Senior goalkeeper Meghan Clothier, the reigning A-10 Defensive Player of the Week, has made 18 saves over the last three games and recorded all three wins.
UMass comes into Friday's game tied for 13th in the national rankings, and with an overall record of 11-2. The Minutewomen have won eight in a row, but each of the last two was by a single goal (12-11 in 2OT vs. Richmond, 10-9 vs. George Washington).
Like Temple, La Salle is currently 8-4 overall, but the Explorers are winless in conference play at 0-3. They will play at Saint Joseph's on Friday before hosting the Owls on Sunday.
