#9 Women's Tennis Drops 4-0 Match to Top-Ranked VCU

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Temple women's tennis team's season has come to a close as the ninth-seeded Owls fell 4-0 to the top-seeded Rams of Virginia Commonwealth University on the second day of the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship, being held at Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. TU concludes the season 10-14 overall.
VCU, ranked 38th in the country, picked up the doubles point with wins at the first and second flights. The Rams took No. 1, 8-2, before Temple duo Yana Mavrina and Rebecca Breland won 8-5 at No. 3, bringing the point down to the second flight. VCU came out on top, winning the match 8-3 and giving the top seed the 1-0 lead.
In singles play, it was all VCU from the start. The Rams won matches at the final three flights in straight sets, taking the match and advancing to the semifinals.
