Softball Falls 11-4 at Penn in Non-Conference Action

PHILADELPHIA – Ali Robinson went 2-for-3 and Sarah Prezioso was 2-for-4 with a double and a run driven in, but it wasn't enough as the Temple softball team dropped an 11-4 single game at Penn on Wednesday afternoon. TU led 2-0 before the host team scored 11 runs in the final three innings to get the come-from-behind victory.
Temple jumped right on top 2-0 in the first inning. The Owls got four hits in the frame, including a blast over the left field fence from Stephanie Pasquale. Prezioso set the table with a two-out single through the right side, and Pasquale stepped in and delivered her 12th homerun of the season.
The Owls had the opportunity to add to their lead in the fourth when Kelsey Dominik walked and Leah Lucas doubled to right field, but Dominik was thrown out at home trying to score on the play.
The Quakers finally struck in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three times in the inning on three hits. That opened up the offense and the host team went on to record five hits and five runs in the fifth, and three more runs on two hits in the sixth.
Temple got one run in both the top of the fifth and sixth, but it was not enough to overcome the Penn offensive onslaught.
Dominik (10-5) got the loss in relief, pitching 2.0 innings while giving up seven hits and eight runs, and walking two. Brooklin White had started the contest, going 4.0 innings, allowing four hits and three runs, walking two and striking out two. Lindsay Mann (5-2) got the win, tossing 3.0 innings, giving up four hits, two runs, three walks and fanning two.
Temple (22-22) returns to conference play for two sets of games against Rhode Island and UMass this weekend. The Owls host the Rams for a 3 p.m. single game on Friday and another single game on Saturday at 12 p.m., before taking on the Minutewomen in a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m.
