Prezioso Named Atlantic 10 Softball Player of the Week, Dominik Tabbed Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Temple's Sarah Prezioso (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Softball Player of the Week for the week ending April 28, 2013. Freshman Kelsey Dominik (Woolwich Township, N.J./Kingsway Regional) was also tabbed the A-10 Rookie of the Week, her second time this season.
Prezioso batted .560 (14-for-25) with five home runs, 10 RBI, 11 runs scored and seven stolen bases to lead the Owls to a record of 5-2 for the week. The junior from Bloomfield, N.J., recorded at least one stolen base in six of the seven games last week and recorded multi-hit performances in five consecutive games. Against A-10 opponents for the week, the shortstop batted .688 (11-for-16) with five home runs, two doubles and nine RBI. Prezioso set the Temple single-season record for runs scored over the weekend, and is just one stolen base shy of tying the TU single-season standard.
Dominik had an impact both at the plate and on the mound for the Owls as she posted a record of 3-2, 3-0 against A-10 opponents, over 24.2 innings pitched. The freshman also batted .333 (7-for-21) with six homeruns, nine RBI and six runs scored. Against Massachusetts on Sunday, Dominik picked up both victories for the Owls and went 4-for-6 at the plate with four home runs and six RBI. With 11 homers on the year, Dominik holds the Temple rookie single-season record.
The Owls are 26-22 overall and 13-5 in Atlantic 10 play. Temple, tied for third place in the conference standings, plays its final two non-conference games with a single game at Iona on Tuesday (2:30 p.m.) and a single game against Delaware State Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Temple Softball Stadium in Ambler, Pa. The Cherry & White close out the regular season with a pair of single games at George Washington on Friday and Saturday, before hosting Fordham for a doubleheader on Sunday, May 5, for Senior Day.
