Owls' Women's Tennis Drops 5-2 Match at UMass

AMHERST, Mass. – The Temple women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at Atlantic 10 rival Massachusetts on Saturday, April 6, 2013. The loss was the fifth straight for the Owls.
In doubles play, the Minutewomen quickly secured the point with wins at the first and third flights. The Cherry & White duo of Rebecca Breland and Yana Mavrina won at No. 2, 8-6, but it was after the point was decided.
The host team also made quick work of the Owls in singles play, wrapping up the match with wins at No. 3, No. 1 and No. 4, respectively, to make it a 4-0 match. Alicia Doms got TU on the board with a three-set win at the second flight, defeating Yuliana Motyl 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, to make it 4-1.
Minami Okajima added Temple's other point with her 6-4, 6-4 decision at the sixth flight, but the Minutewomen won at No. 5 for the final deficit.
Temple is 5-12 overall and will play at Quinnipiac at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
