Softball's Pasquale Leads Nation in Two Statistical Categories

4.8.13 | Softball

PHILADELPHIA On the heels of a career weekend at the plate, junior Stephanie Pasquale (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) has moved into the top-five of five national statistical categories, including leading the nation in two of them. In addition, the team is ranked in the top-10 nationally in one category, in the most recent statistics that were released Monday, April 8.

Pasquale is having a stellar season this year, and she has the numbers to show it. The catcher is the top ranked player nationally in both doubles per game (0.48) and toughest to strikeout. With 15 two-baggers on the year, Pasquale now holds the Temple single-season record and needs just six more to set the TU career mark. For the third year in a row, she is demonstrating a good eye at the plate, striking out just once in 99 at-bats on the season.

In addition, Pasquale is ranked second in the nation in runs batted in per game (1.52), fourth in batting average (.485) and fifth in slugging percentage (.939).

As a team, the Owls are the ninth best team in the country when it comes to hitting homeruns, clubbing 1.39 per game. The national leader is Georgia with 1.8/game. TU's average was certainly improved this past weekend when the squad belted 10 homeruns in two games, including a seven-dinger performance in one game. The Cherry & White have hit 43 homeruns so far this season, which is just four shy of a single-season record.

Several other Temple players are individually ranked among the top 150 players in the country in statistical categories. To see where the TU players and team stack up, visit this link.
