PHILADELPHIA - Temple University women's rowing coach Rebecca (Smith) Grzybowski was inducted into the Holy Cross Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, May 4.  The Owls' first-year head coach joined her 2002 Varsity 8 teammates as the entire boat was enshrined in a ceremony on the campus of her alma mater.

Grzybowski was part of the Crusaders boat that posted an undefeated regular season during the spring of 2002 and then won the ECAC National Invitational Regatta, defeating 23 crews in the process.  Her teammates were Lizzie McCawley, Marie Golden, Maura Droney, Cathy Eberl, Dana Betts, Angela Archambault, Melissa Irving, Bridget Biggins and Madeline Chiampou.

A 2002 graduate where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, Grzybowksi was a two-time team captain and earned first team All-New England as a senior. She helped the Crusaders to three consecutive Patriot League Challenge titles.

Upon graduation she spent two years as Holy Cross's assistant women's rowing coach and program administrator. In 2004, she left the position at Holy Cross to focus on her own rowing career. In 2008, Grzybowski finished fourth at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the Lightweight doubles while winning the National Selection Regatta in the Lightweight single event. She also earned gold medals at the Head of the Charles and Head of the Schuylkill, as well as in the Lightweight quad at the U.S. Elite National Championships.  She would later help the U.S. Women's Lightweight quad to a bronze medal at the World Rowing Championships in Linz, Austria which would lead to her being named the Vesper Boat Club Athlete of the Year.
