Softball's Robinson Named South Jersey Coaches Association Division I Player of the Year

PHILADELPHIA Ali Robinson (Woodbury, N.J./Gloucester Catholic), who recently completed her Temple softball career, was honored last week as the South Jersey Softball Coaches Association Division I Player of the Year. The award was presented at the SJCA's 32nd annual banquet, held Williamstown, N.J., on Tuesday, June 11.

Every year, the association honors a college senior from the South Jersey area who has had a worthy career, but especially an exceptional final collegiate season.

Robinson definitely saved her best for last, making her first appearance on the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team for her play at centerfield. She batted a career-best .308 this season with a team-high tying and school single-season record matching 15 homeruns. A three-year team captain, Robinson graduates with her name at the top of two career lists - at bats (594) and runs scored (153) - and is present in seven others.

TU finished the year at 32-26, setting a school record for wins in a season. The team earned a third-place finish at the A-10 Tournament, its final year in the league, which is the highest finish for the Owls since winning it in 2004.

It was a family affair for Robinson as her sister, Annie, was also honored at the banquet as a first team All-South Jersey performer for Gloucester Catholic.
