PHILADELPHIA - Temple University officially opened its new indoor practice facility, the Pavilion Athletic Facility, on Tuesday, July 23 with the Owls football team holding a brief workout on the turf.
The Pavilion Athletic Facility, which will also be utilized by field hockey, women's lacrosse, baseball, softball, men's and women's soccer, is a 32,000 square foot multi-purpose field. The facility, which will also be available as an auxiliary training site for the remainder of Temple's 24 varsity athletic programs, will feature Field Turf XT57, an ideal surface for Temple's varsity teams to train on. It is located at 1801 North Broad Street (just north of Pearson McGonigle Hall).
"We are entering a new era in Temple Athletics as we prepare to begin competition in the American Athletic Conference so it is the perfect time to open the doors on an indoor practice facility," said Interim Director of Athletics Kevin Clark. "Having an indoor practice facility is essential in this day and age to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics, so we are excited to provide this for our student-athletes."
Temple opens the 2013 season at Notre Dame on August 31. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The home/American Athletic Conference opener with Houston is slated for Sept. 7 at Noon at Lincoln Financial Field.
Temple Football full season ticket packages are on sale for as low as $99.
Single-game tickets are available in-person at the Lincoln Financial Field Box Office, via telephone at 800-745-3000 (Ticketmaster), or online at www.OwlsTix.com.
