NEWARK, Del. – Temple men's soccer dropped its second game in a row Tuesday night in a 2-1 loss to Delaware at Delaware MiniStadium. The loss puts the Owls' overall record at 4-2.
The Owls got off to a good start in the game with a goal in the 13th minute of the game from Chas Wilson, his first of the season. Wilson received a pass from Jared Martinelli six yards to the left side of the box and booted the ball past the goalie. Vaughn Spurrier also assisted on the goal.
The Blue Hens responded very quickly. Thirty-two seconds later, Mark Garrity scored off of passes from Jaime Martinez and Guillermo Delgado to tie the game.
Two minutes later, Martinez scored to give the Blue Hens the lead for good. Prince Nartey assisted on the goal.
Temple couldn't overcome the deficit the rest of the game, only getting two shots in the second half.
Goalie Dan Scheck, who was scored upon for just the second time this season, made nine saves for the Cherry and White.
The Owls continue non-conference play with a home match at Ambler Sports Complex against fellow Philadelphia Soccer Six member Villanova at 2:00 p.m. this Saturday.
