PHILADELPHIA – Shea'na Grigsby has been named the Associate Director of the Nancy & Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes, as announced by Director Justin Miller. Grigsby comes to Temple after nearly three years as an academic counselor for football at the University of Minnesota.

"Shea'na Grigsby is a fantastic addition to the Resnick Center Staff," said Miller. "She will instantly have a tremendous impact on our student-athletes, our services and the department as a whole. We are looking forward to her having a very bright future as a Temple Owl."

While at Minnesota, Grigsby monitored the academic progress of the Golden Gophers' football team, and the student-athletes' eligibility for progress towards a degree. She worked closely with learning coordinators to schedule mentor and individual tutoring sessions for students, and assisted in the supervision of a football academic intern among other duties.

Before joining the staff at Minnesota, Grigsby was an academic advisor and tutor coordinator at Northwestern University from 2008-11, where she was the primary advisor to 12 of their 19 sports. She was also responsible for coordinating weekly study review sessions and scheduling individual tutoring appointments.

Prior to her time at Northwestern, Grigsby served as a student-athlete mentor at Baldwin-Wallace College where she worked with at-risk student-athletes to develop a plan for academic success. She was also a co-advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Baldwin-Wallace while pursuing her master's.

Grigsby graduated with a bachelor of arts in English from Carthage College in 2006, and went on to complete her master's degree in sports management at Cleveland State University in 2008.

A native of Minneapolis, Grigsby won eight national championships over a four-year track and field career at Division III Carthage College, including three straight titles in the outdoor 100m high hurdles from 2004 to 2006, three consecutive titles in the indoor 55m high hurdles from 2004 to 2006 and the 2006 title in the 400m intermediate hurdles.

Grigsby was also part of a national-championship 400m relay team in 2003. She earned 17 NCAA All-America citations, 12 outdoors and five indoors. She was named United States Track Coaches Association "NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Performer of the Year" in 2004 and named CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship MVP in 2003, 2005 and 2006.
