Men's Crew Sees Freshman Four Win on the Schuylkill

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's crew team got a gold medal showing from its freshman four boat, highlighting the Owls action at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday.
The first place boat recorded a winning time of 15:22.38, outpacing its nearest competitor, Delaware, by nearly 14 seconds, to top the 16-boat field. The Owl entry was comprised of Samuel Vecchione (coxswain), Collin McKinney (stroke), Austin Therut (three seat), Andrew Grochowski (two seat), and Joseph Fairweather (bow).
Temple also had strong finishes from its two other entries, as the club eight boat was eighth out of 19, and the novice eight finished 16th out of 32 boats. The club eight featured Kati Jordan Funck as coxswain, and rowers Dylan McCreavy (stroke), Theuret (seven seat), Grochowski (six seat), Nikolas Dula (five seat), Hunter Devine (four seat), David Buckley (three seat), Vittorio DiPentino (two seat) and Fairweather (bow). In the novice eight, Temple featured coxswain Nicholas Olimpo, Jeffrey Brenner (stroke), Reiner Smit (seven seat), Andrew Collins (six seat), Tyler Martin (five seat), James Case (four seat), Jack Higgins (three seat), Jakob DeAngelis (two seat), and Guillermo Vazquez (bow).
The Owls are back in action tomorrow, entering four varsity boats into the Princeton 3-Mile Chase, held on Lake Carnegie.
