News & Notes Following Temple's 34-14 Loss at UCF

CB Samuel Benjamin blocked his second punt of the season. This time he recovered it himself and carried 6 yards into the endzone for a TD. He became the 17th different Owl to score a TD this season.

Temple now has three punt returns for TDs this season. The entire American Athletic Conference has four total – 3 by Temple and one by UConn.

On the following possession, LB Michael Felton partially blocked another UCF punt. That gives Temple three punt blocks this season and four in the last eight games.

On the Owls' lone touchdown drive, WR Jalen Fitzpatrick took an end around and completed a 14-yard pass to QB P.J. Walker. It was Walker's first career reception. At the time of the completion, Walker was the team's leading passer, rusher, and receiver.

Due to an injury to starting LT Dion Dawkins, sophomore OL Semaj Reed got his first career start. Reed started at LG and Shabaz Ahmed moved to LT.

LB Jarred Alwan, who suffered a head injury last week at Houston,  missed the first game of his career breaking a string of 18 straight games played.

For the first time this season, the Owls were shut out in the first quarter. In fact, the last time Temple was held without a point in the first quarter was against UCF on 11/16/13. The last time an opponent other than UCF held the Owls scoreless in the first quarter was Louisville on 11/5/13.

UCF had both a 300-yard passer (Justin Holman 25-39-336-0-2TDs) and 100-yard receiver (Breshad Perriman 7-146-1TD). Ironically, it was the first time this season that Temple surrendered either a 300-yard passer OR 100-yard receiver. The last time either feat was accomplished was last season vs. UCF.
