PHILADELPHIA - Lauren Ferrett has joined the Temple Athletic Communications staff as an Associate Director, coming to Philadelphia after spending eight years at Wellesley College. Ferrett will handle the day-to-day media relations responsibilities for the Owls' women's basketball and volleyball teams as well as for men's crew and women's rowing.

"Lauren is a rising star in the field of athletic communications, and we are excited to put her extraordinary talents to use in publicizing and promoting Temple student-athletes and teams," said Senior Associate Athletic Director for Communications Larry Dougherty.

Ferrett served as the Director of Sports Information & Communication at Wellesley, where she was responsible for 14 varsity sports teams as well as physical education, recreation and athletic department events.

"I am very excited to join the Temple Athletics community," said Ferrett. "I look forward to promoting the accomplishments of an outstanding group of student-athletes."

In addition to her sports information duties at Wellesley, Ferrett was head of the department's Technology Committee and a member of the college's Key Communicators group. She also served as Chair of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Sports Information Directors Group.

While at Wellesley, Ferrett oversaw the design and launch of two new websites, as well as a new branding strategy and a style guide for the department. She managed all of the program's live video and live statistics programs, including securing a $30,000 capital request for an outdoor wireless mesh system.

Ferrett served as media coordinator for several special events, including Madeleine Albright's 2010 NCAA Teddy Award presentation and 2014 Athletics Hall of Fame announcement, Title IX: 40 Years and Counting and the 2014 NCAA Northeast Fencing Regional (Divisions I and III).

Before arriving at Wellesley in 2007, Ferrett worked at Bloomsburg University as a sports information/athletic marketing assistant for two years. While at Bloomsburg, she earned her master's degree in instructional technology.

During the summers from 2003-09, Ferrett worked in various roles for two minor league baseball teams, the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Red Barons and the Brockton Rox. Her other work experience includes serving as a department assistant for the Ithaca College Department of Sports Management and Media while attending Ithaca as an undergraduate.

Ferrett is a native of Old Forge, Pa., and earned her bachelor's degree in sports information and communications from Ithaca College in 2005.
