Temple Student-Athletes Champion “It’s On Us” Campaign
11.21.14 | Outreach
PHILADELPHIA - Temple University and Temple Athletics are proud to join the White House, universities and companies around the country in furthering the effort to end sexual assault on college campuses.
The "It's On Us" initiative is a cultural movement aimed at fundamentally shifting the way we think, talk about and act around the issue of sexual assault. The initiative asks everyone – men and women – to make a personal commitment to holding themselves and each other accountable and realize that the solution begins with us.
Temple University student-athletes from every intercollegiate athletic program took part in a public service announcement video. Temple University administrators, coaches and student leaders have also taken the "It's On Us" pledge, including Vice President and Director of Athletics Kevin Clark and student government president Ray Smeriglio. Their videos can be viewed at www.owlsports.com/ItsOnUs.
"Our student-athletes are not only leaders in the field of competition, but serve as strong role models," said Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Athlete Affairs Sherryta Freeman. "I commend them on championing this cause, and all of the community services initiatives they participate in with the help of our student athlete affairs staff."
