PHILADELPHIA - Temple's men's and women's cross country teams volunteered on the course at the 2014 Philadelphia Marathon Sunday morning. Both teams were at the 10 mile mark, handing out water and Gatorade to the 30,000 runners who were running the 26.2-mile course that day. 21148

The Philadelphia Marathon is one of the most historic races in the nation featuring a course that takes runners through some of the city's most popular spaces. Many landmarks are featured along the route such as Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross House, and the Liberty Bell, while the finish line is at the end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Each year, the event attracts thousands of spectators and runners including some who have ties to Temple. "Many of our athletes had families and friends competing so it was great to be out there supporting them on a beautiful fall morning," said coach James Snyder.

"Philadelphia is an incredible running city and it's always nice for our kids to give back to that community," said Snyder.
