Shauni Kerkhoff Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Soccer Team

PHILADELPHIA - Temple's Shauni Kerkhoff is one of 11 to be named to the 2014 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Soccer Team. Kerkhoff, who is a junior, is the Owls' starting goalkeeper and has a perfect 4.00 grade-point-average as a criminal justice major to earn this academic accolade for the second straight year.
La Salle's Kelsey Haycook was tabbed this year's Performer of the Year. The team comprises student-athletes across all three NCAA divisions and is voted on by the sports information directors at the 29 colleges and universities in the metro area.
To be considered for the Academic All-Area Team, student-athletes must possess at least a 3.20 GPA and be a starter or significant reserve.
Kerkhoff, a native of Westervile, Ohio, ended this season with a 1.13 goals against average, .775 save percentage and six shutouts along with recording 79 saves on the season. She is first all-time at Temple in save percentage (.806), goals against average (1.15) and shutouts (17). Kerkhoff also ranks fifth all-time in saves with 237.
Off the field, Kerkhoff was named to the 2014 Temple Trustee Ten for having one of the 10 best GPA's among all student-athletes, and has been named to Temple's President's Honor Roll her freshman and sophomore seasons.
