3.11.14 | Football
PHILADELPHIA (3/11/14) – Temple University today announced its 2014 football schedule. The Owls will begin their 116th season of competition on Thursday, August 28 in a nationally televised game (SEC Network) at Vanderbilt.
"It is exciting to see our schedule released so our students and fans can make their plans for the Fall," said Temple head coach Matt Rhule. "We play eight teams with winning records from a year ago, including six of the last seven opponents. I am excited to bring such a high caliber of college football to Philadelphia."
The Owls will then return to Lincoln Financial Field for the home opener vs. Navy on Saturday, September 6. This will be the 12th season for the Owls at the Linc.
Following a matchup vs. Delaware State, the first ever between the two schools, the exciting in-conference schedule begins in earnest. Six straight American Athletic Conference games highlight the schedule, including back-to-back road games at Houston and defending conference champions, UCF. Today, the American announced its complete 11-team, 44-game conference schedule.
A road trip to State College, PA, to take on Penn State on Saturday, November 15, interrupts the conference slate before the regular season ends with two more conference games – Cincinnati and at Tulane.
