Women's Tennis Gets Past UConn, 4-3

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Temple women's tennis team used a come-from-behind effort to defeat UConn, 4-3, on Saturday, March 29 at the East Hartford Tennis Club. Sophomore Minami Okajima clinched the victory with a sixth flight win.
The Huskies jumped out to a 2-0 lead after wins at doubles and the second singles flight. Freshman Anais Nussaume brought her team within one, 2-1, with her 6-3, 6-0, fifth flight win, but UConn responded with a win at No. 1 to go up 3-1.
It was all Temple from there, however, as the Owls won the remaining three singles matches to get the win. With the match tied at 3-3, Okajima pulled out a 7-6(4), 6-2 decision at No. 6 to secure the victory.
TU (6-10) returns to play on Friday, April 4, with a 2 p.m. match at UMBC.
