3.4.14 | Women's Lacrosse
NEW YORK - Temple senior Jaymie Tabor was named the BIG EAST Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week on March 4, for her impressive performance in the Owls' 10-8 win over Oregon on March 1.Â
Tabor scored six goals for the third time in her career, this time helping Temple edge out Oregon in its only game of the week. Tabor completed a hat trick within the first eight minutes of the game, helping the Owls jump out to a 3-1 lead. She scored another goal before halftime and two more during a 4-0 run that helped the Owls build a 9-5 lead, and they would need every goal as the Ducks fought back to within one, 9-8 by the final two minutes.
Tabor has 11 goals over three games played this season and ranks second in the BIG EAST with 3.67 goals per game.
Rutgers redshirt freshman goalkeeper Amanda Currell was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for a second week in a row. Currell recorded 13 saves and a team-high eight groundballs against Delaware to earn her second career win and improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Owls are 2-2 so far in the 2014 season, and will play later today at Colorado (5:00 p.m. EST) in their first of two games this week.
