Women's Tennis Season Comes to Close with 4-0 Loss to UCF in First Round of Conference Championship

TAMPA, Fla. – The 2014 Temple women's tennis season has come to an end with a 4-0 loss to 10th-seeded UCF in the opening round of the American Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by USF, on April 17. The seventh-seeded Owls close the year at 8-11 overall.
The Knights quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead with wins at the first and third doubles flights. A fifth flight singles win made it a 2-0 match for UCF.
Senior Alicia Doms took Josephine Haraldson to a tiebreak in the opening set of No. 1 singles, but ultimately dropped a 7-6(5), 6-0 decision to give the Knights a 3-0 edge.
Classmate Yana Mavrina dropped her first set of the second flight, 6-0, but also forced a tiebreak with her opponent Caroline Eberhart. Eberhart came out on top, however, ending the match with her 7-6(5) second-set win.
