INDIANAPOLIS – Former Temple center Victoria Macaulay (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has agreed to terms with the WNBA's Indiana Fever on a training camp contract.
The 6-4 former Owl played last season at Lavezzini Parma in the Italian A1 league. In 24 games she averaged 15.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. Macaulay was named to Italian League All-Star Game.
Macaulay (2009-13) finished her Temple career ranked fourth in school history in blocks (211), ninth in rebounds (740), and 22nd in points (972).
As a senior in 2012-13, she was named to All-Atlantic 10 Second Team and the All-Defensive Team after pacing the A-10 in blocks and ranking sixth in scoring. She helped young Owls make an improbable run through the A-10 Tournament as 10th-seeded Temple reached the semifinals.
Macaulay was named the Philadelphia Big 5's Most Improved Player in 2012.
If she earns a roster spot, Macaulay will be the fourth Owl in school history to play in the WNBA, joining first-round draft picks Candice Dupree (2006, Chicago Sky) and Kamesha Hairston (2007, Connecticut Sun), and second-round draft pick Shey Peddy (2012, Chicago Sky).
The Indiana Fever, coached by Lin Dunn, opens the 2014 season at Chicago on May 16 following three preseason games.
