NEW YORK - Four members of Temple lacrosse have been named to the 2014 All-BIG EAST Second Team, as announced by the league on Wednesday. Redshirt sophomore Jaqi Kakalecik, sophomore Maddie McTigue, senior Jaymie Tabor and sophomore Nicole Tiernan were all honored for their performance this season.

In goal, Kakalecik played in all 16 games for the Owls, starting in the final 10 contests. For conference games, she ranked second among all goalkeepers with 6.71 saves per game. Her 2.29 ground balls per game in BIG EAST games tied for third, and she led the Owls this season with 30 total ground balls.

Kakalecik made a career-high 10 saves in Temple's 12-10 win over Villanova, and came up big in a 9-8 overtime win against Hofstra with two saves in the first three minutes of the extra period.

McTigue was a difference-maker for the Owls despite not being a scoring threat, as she led the team and ranked third in the BIG EAST with 2.75 draw controls per game (44 total). Her season total in draws ranks her eighth all-time at Temple in a single season. McTigue played a critical role in the Owls' defense, and was honored by her peers by being named a team co-captain in only her sophomore year.

In her final season at Temple, Tabor stepped up as the scoring leader with 33 goals and 39 total points. With 2.36 goals per game, Tabor ranked fourth in the BIG EAST. She tied her career high with six goals in Temple's 10-8 win over Oregon, and notched five other hat tricks over the course of the season.

Tabor was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on March 4, and was twice named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. She played and started in 14 games, scoring at least one goal in all but one of those contests. She recorded four goals in Temple's win over Villanova, and three in a win at Marquette.

Tiernan was Temple's second-leading scorer overall with 29 goals, and led the team with 18 goals in BIG EAST games. With 2.57 goals per game in conference contests, Tiernan ranked fourth in the league. She led the Owls with 13 caused turnovers, and made a difference in every game with her speed and play-making ability. Tiernan recorded four hat tricks, and scored in the final nine games of the season.

She had at least two goals in each of the final five games, including four against #19 Louisville and three against Georgetown. Tiernan scored twice in the Owls' 9-8 overtime win against Hofstra, notching both the game-tying and game-winning goals.

Temple finished the 2014 season at 6-10 overall and 3-4 in its first season in the BIG EAST. The Owls narrowly missed out on a BIG EAST Tournament berth, tying for fourth in the league and coming out on the wrong end of the tiebreaker.

Louisville made BIG EAST history, becoming the first team to sweep all four major awards. In her seventh season at the helm, Kellie Young was the unanimous choice as BIG EAST Coach of the Year, while senior Nikki Boltja was the uncontested selection for BIG EAST Attack Player of the Year. Kaylin Morissette was tabbed BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year while Monica Negron rounded out the honorees as BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year.
