Jaqi Kakalecik Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Lacrosse Team

PHILADELPHIA - Temple's Jaqi Kakalecik is one of 12 to be named to the 2014 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Lacrosse Team. Kalalecik, who will be a redshirt junior next season, is the Owls' goalkeeper and has a 3.90 grade-point-average as a biochemistry major.
Philadelphia University's Libby Nichols was tabbed this year's Performer of the Year. The team comprises student-athletes across all three NCAA divisions and is voted on by the sports information directors at the 28 colleges and universities in the metro area.

To be considered for the Academic All-Area Team, student-athletes must possess at least a 3.20 GPA and be a starter or significant reserve.

Kakalecik, a native of Whitehouse Station, N.J., was named to the 2014 All-BIG EAST Second Team. She played in every game in goal for the Owls, starting in the final 10 contests, and ranked second in the BIG EAST with 6.71 saves per game in conference contests. She led Temple with 30 ground balls (tied for third in the conference), and made a career high 10 saves in a 12-10 win vs. BIG EAST foe Villanova.
Off the field, Kakalecik was also named to the 2014 Temple Trustee Ten for having one of the 10 best GPA's among all student-athletes, and has been named to Temple's President's Honor Roll all three years of her collegiate career.
