"Temple University and Temple Athletics lost a champion with the tragic death of Trustee Lewis Katz. Lewis touched so many lives, not just at Temple, but worldwide with his philanthropy. He was truly a great man. Ours thoughts and prayers are with his family, and the families of the others who lost their lives in the crash." - Kevin Clark, Vice President and Director of Athletics, Temple University.
"I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Lewis Katz. I had just talked to him following his moving speech at our recent commencement, so this news comes as even more of a shock. No one cared more for Temple University that he did. He was a kind, passionate man whose generosity extended well beyond the Temple community. My thoughts are with his family during this tragic time." – Fran Dunphy, Men's Basketball Coach, Temple University
"I am sadly mourning the tragic loss of Lewis Katz. He was not only a tremendous leader, supporter, and believer in Temple and Temple athletics, he was also my friend. My heart is heavy knowing he will no longer be with us. His impact will be missed both here on campus and throughout all the communities he touched with his many business and philanthropic endeavors. My deepest condolences are extended to Drew, Melissa, and their families." - Matt Rhule, Head Football Coach, Temple University
"I am saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Lewis Katz. He gave back so much to his alma mater and had a special love for Temple Athletics. He will be greatly missed for his compassion and generosity. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to the families of all touched by this tragedy." - Tonya Cardoza, Women's Basketball Coach, Temple University
"I was devastated to hear of the passing of Lewis Katz. My prayers go out to his daughter, Melissa, and son, Drew, and their families. As part of the Temple family I obviously knew him professionally but, more importantly, my family and I have had a long relationship with Lewis and his family for over 20 years. I lived near his family in Cherry Hill and Melissa in northern New Jersey. I don't think a month ever went by without he and I speaking on the phone. The world lost a kind and generous man whose first love in life was his family and his second what he could do to help others." - Ed Foley, Asst. Head Football Coach, Temple University
