Matakevich Earns Preseason All-American Praise; Five Others Garner All-Conference Honors

Phil Steele's 2014 College Football Preview has announced its 2014 Preseason All-American Team and Temple junior linebacker Tyler Matakevich has landed on the All-American 4th team. As such, he is the only American Athletic Conference linebacker to draw All-American honors, and joins Tulane's CB Lorenzo Doss (3rd team) as the conferences only defenders to earn such praise.
Temple had six players earn All-American Athletic Conference honors from the esteemed publication led by Matakevich's first team designation. QB P.J. Walker, RB Kenneth Harper and OL Kyle Friend earned 3rd team honors, while LB Nate D. Smith and CB Anthony Robey garnered 4th team placement.
