Three Lacrosse Student-Athletes Named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

GRAND LAKE, Colo. - Three Temple lacrosse student-athletes have been honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) with inclusion on the 2014 Academic Honor Roll. Graduated senior Lea Britton along with rising senior Rachel Hall and rising redshirt junior Jaqi Kakalecik were all honored for having a GPA of 3.5 or above for the 2013-14 school year.
In all, the IWLCA honored 233 student-athletes from 79 different institutions with inclusion on the Academic Honor Roll. Â All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically and had a cumulative academic GPA or 3.50 or greater.
britton recently graduated with a degree in kinesiology, pre-health professions. Hall is majoring in criminal justice, and Kakalecik is working toward a degree in biochemistry. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Last week, Temple lacrosse was one of 84 Division I teams to be recognized as an Academic Squad by the IWLCA. The Owls earned Academic Squad distinction for the eighth straight year.Â
Kakalecik was also recently honored at Temple's annual Breakfast of Champions as a member of the Trustee Ten. That honor goes to the 10 student-athletes who have the highest GPA's in the entire department. Kakalecik was recognized among the group for her 3.9 GPA.
The Breakfast of Champions, held this year on May 6, included grades only up through the fall semester.
Along with Kakaleick, 10 other members of the team were named to the President's Honor Roll for having a GPA of 3.5 or above (freshmen are not eligible). Those honorees were: Britton, Kirstie Connor, Nina Falcone, Hall, Bridget Hufnagel, Brenda McDermott, Maddie McTigue, Megan Pinkerton, Kathryn Skahan and Nicole Tiernan.
Thirteen additional members of the team were named to the Director's Honor Roll for having a GPA between a 3.0 and 3.49: Carly Demato, Carli Fitzgerald, Anna Frederick, Krissy Gallivan, Macie Hauck, Summer Jaros, Avery Longstaff, Kari Longstaff, Rachel Schwaab, Molly Seefried, Kelly Syphard, Gabby Szczepanek and Megan Tiernan.
