Men's Basketball Travels To UCF for Wednesday Showdown

1.26.15 | Men's Basketball

ORLANDO - With snow impacting the region, Temple men's basketball takes a timely trip to sunny Florida to take on American Athletic Conference rival UCF Wednesday (7:00 pm/CBS SN/1210 AM WPHT).

The Owls (13-7, 4-3 American) will be taking on the Knights (9-10, 2-6) for the second time this season with Temple taking the first game, 84-78, at the Liacouras Center on Jan. 4.  The teams met for the first time last season with all three games going down to the wire.  UCF toppled TU, 78-76, in Orlando while the Owls won in overtime, 86-78, in Philadelphia.

UCF defeated Temple, 94-90, in double-overtime in the conference tournament.

A trio of guards continue to pace head coach Fran Dunphy's Owls as senior Jesse Morgan (13.5 ppg), junior Quenton DeCosey (13.4 ppg) and senior Will Cummings (12.9 ppg) all top double figures for the Cherry and White.  Cummings, who missed all or part of the Owls' three recent losses, returned to the starting lineup for the team's win against USF on Jan. 22.

Junior Jaylen Bond has been a force inside for Temple, leading the conference in rebounding (8.2 rpg) while averaging 8.4 ppg.  Junior Devontae Watson (1.8 ppg, 2.7 rpg) rounds out the starters with sophomore guard Josh Brown (6.7 ppg) leading a group of five reserves in the rotation.

UCF is looking to snap a three-game losing skid against teams near the top of the league standings (@UConn, @Memphis, Cincinnati). The Knights' conference wins have
both come in overtime, including a three-overtime, 79-78 victory at Houston on Jan. 6.

The Knights are a strong three-point shooting team, leading the league in three-point field goal percentage (.383) and ranking second with 7.0 three-pointers made per game.

Freshman guard B.J. Taylor is UCF's scoring leader at 14.1 ppg. The Knights' second-leading scorer is also a freshman,

Adonys Henriquez (11.1 ppg). Henriquez's 2.3 treys per game are tops on the team and sixth in the conference.
