10.14.15 | Women's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's soccer will head out on the road for the final time this season, starting with a trip to Tulsa to take on the Hurricane in a Thursday night matchup under the lights. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

In the last two games, Temple added a win and a draw to their record, after defeating Cincinnati, 2-1 on October 8 and tying East Carolina, 0-0 on October 11 in double overtime.

Against the Bearcats, sophomore Elana Falcone knocked in the game-tying goal in the 56th minute off two headers from senior Erin Lafferty and redshirt-junior Gina DiTaranto

In the 70th minute, DiTaranto knocked in the game-winner after a previous shot from freshman Sarah McGlinn had been blocked and she was able to gather the rebound.  She led the team with three points and was named American Athletic?Conference Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts.

Against the Pirates, the Owls led both an offensive and defensive effort to pull the tie. The Owls took 13 shots on goal, all saved by goalkeeper Saundra Baron. On defensive, the backline helped to keep the ball away from the net and limited East Carolina to only two shots on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Nash ranks fourth in the conference in with 53 saves, .855 save percentage, and nine goals against her for a 0.78 goals against average. With only 12 goals scored against them this year, the Owls are on track to allow the least amount of goals scored in a season (record is 22 set back in 1995).
