PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's soccer heads into the final stretch of its season, facing the Tulsa Hurricane Saturday evening as the first match in a four-game American Athletic Conference series. The Owls are coming off a non-conference victory over Columbia and their first conference win against Memphis last weekend.
Overall, the Owls stand at 9-3-2 on the season and 1-3 in the conference. The team has outscored its past two opponents 7-1, boosting its season total points mark to 89, the second-highest in the nation.
In the Owls' match against Columbia, Hermann Doerner and Joonas Jokinen scored back-to-back goals in 21 seconds to put Temple up 2-0 in the first half. Carlos Moros Gracia headed in the third goal on the Owls' way to their sixth shutout of the season, only to be stopped by a penalty kick taken by the Lions in the 88th minute to make the final score 3-1.
The Hurricane currently stands at 5-4-2 for the season and 1-2-1 in the conference. They welcome the Owls following a 1-0 conference victory over UCF last weekend.
