Women’s Tennis Opens Play at ITA Regional Championship

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Temple women's tennis saw action in the opening round of the 2015 ITA Atlantic Regional Championship, hosted by Liberty University. Only Yana Khon and Alina Abdurakhimova will be representing the Owls in the tournament.
"Yana played a good match against a tough singles opponent, but I'm happy with the way she rebounded back in doubles," said head coach Steve Mauro. "They had a great win against a tough Old Dominion team to advance to the next round."
In qualifying singles, Khon lost her opening draw to George Washington's Marie-Louise Decamps, 7-5, 6-1. However, Khon and Abdurakhimova moved on to the round of 32 in doubles, after defeating Old Dominion's Adriana Rajkovic and Natalia Vlasova, 8-6.
Abdurakihmova will represent Temple in the main draw of the competition, facing off against Towson's Lucy Williams.
