PHILADELPHIA – After a win at East Carolina gave the Temple Owls' their first ever 7-0 start, the players earned significant praise when the American Athletic Conference announced their weekly awards. For the first time in 2015, the Owls have three players included in the Player of the Week and Honor Roll mentions. Senior linebacker Tyler Matakevich took home his third Defensive Player of the Week award of the season, tying a season-high with 13 tackles, along with his first sack and interception game of his remarkable career. He remains the only player in FBS to lead his team in tackles every game this season. Junior defensive lineman Sharif Finch received Special Teams Player of the Week for his two fourth-quarter blocked punts. He has three blocked kicks on the season, best in the nation. Redshirt senior wide receiver Robby Anderson had a season-high eight catches for 126 and the game-winning touchdown in the Owls' 24-14 victory over the Pirates. He made the conference Honor Roll. Seven different Owls have earned a spot in the conference's weekly awards, one short of last season's total. This is the first week two different Owls have received positional awards since September 27th, 2014, after a win over UConn.

Temple steps away from American play to host Notre Dame this week at Lincoln Financial Field. Gametime for the Halloween tilt is 8:00 p.m. and will air nationally on ABC.
