CLEMENTON, N.J. – Former Temple defensive tackle Matt Lauck will be inducted into the Gloucester County Hall of Fame on March 24, 2015. Lauck was a standout wrestling and football star at Pitman High School.
Lauck attended Temple from 1979-80, where he was a member of the 1979 Garden State Bowl team as a freshman. Head coach Wayne Hardin said of Lauck when he joined the squad that he had "excellent size, strength and speed and is going to play a lot of football. His whole future is ahead of him."
While at Pitman, Lauck was selected to play in the first New Jersey North-South Football All-Star Game, where he helped lead the South to a 34-13 victory. Lauck was also inducted into the South Jersey Chapter National Football Hall of Fame as a senior as one of three South Jersey scholar-athletes. Lauck was also a wrestler for Pitman, where he won the 1979 NJSIAA state heavyweight wrestling championship and was undefeated as a junior.
