Alina Abdurakhimova Named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Freshman Alina Abdurakhimova was named American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending in February 16.
The Tashkent, Uzbekistan, native went undefeated this weekend at the first flight to move to 7-1 on the season. On Friday, February 13, Abdurakhimova defeated Binghamton's Alexis Tashiro (6-1, 6-1), and continued with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Albany's Dajana Ognjenovic on Saturday, February 14. Abdurakhimova and partner Yana Khon also were undefeated at the first flight of doubles, as they beat Albany's Ana Glumac and Alba Sala, 6-3.
With these victories, Abdurakhimova has collected seven consecutive straight-set victories at the first flight in singles. The last time that she loss at the first flight was to VCU's Salome Kvitashvili, 6-1, 1-6, 2-6 in the season opener on January 24.
