2.26.15 | General

PHILADELPHIA, - Today Temple University announced the availability of high-speed public WiFi and new fan engagement features to enhance the live experience for fans attending men's basketball games at the Liacouras Center for the remainder of the 2014-15 season.

Beginning tonight, attendees simply log on to #FREELiacourasWIFI for quick, reliable Internet access and entree into new fan features, including  up-to-the-minute social feeds, as well as news and highlights from the game. The Wi-Fi platform is provided by SignalShare, the leading provider of mobile engagement solutions for mass audiences.

Studies show college students have a strong desire to stay connected, wherever they are. According to global consumer experience management company SDL, millennials check their smartphones 43 times per day.

"Temple fans want to be just as connected at the game as they are in everyday life," said Temple University's Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions Scott Walcoff. "We want to embrace that, by helping fans use their smartphones to interact with our team and share the experience with their friends throughout the game. SignalShare's solution enables us to do this - providing a slam dunk for our fans."

Fans who log onto the Liacouras Center's free Wi-Fi will be directed to the Owls' new fan portal, where they can scroll through the latest event-related Instagram and Twitter feeds. Fans can also post directly to their social accounts from the Owls' portal, as well as to check out team stats, game schedule and real-time news.

"With this deployment, Temple is giving fans exactly what they want - the ability to use their mobile phones to further engage with the event," said Joe Costanzo, CTO of SignalShare. "They can tweet, share pictures and videos, see the latest posts about the game, and receive in-venue promotions - all over the WiFi network. Temple is breaking new ground, and its innovation will drive an exceptional fan experience."
