Nicole Tiernan Earns Second Straight BIG EAST Weekly Award
3.17.15 | Women's Lacrosse
PHILADELPHIA - For the second week in a row, Temple junior Nicole Tiernan has been named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week. Tiernan has been a key factor in the Owls' success this season, leading Temple with 26 goals which ranks ninth among all players in NCAA Division I.
Temple is out to its best start (8-1) in 18 years and Tiernan has plenty to do with that. She totaled nine goals and two ground balls as the Owls went 2-0 last week with road wins at Rutgers and No. 19 Delaware. Against the Scarlet Knights, the junior had a career-high six goals, including the game winner as Temple claimed an 11-10 victory. Three days later, Tiernan recorded her fifth hat trick of the season with three goals in an 11-6 win at nationally ranked Delaware. Â
Next up for Temple is a 4:00 p.m. game on Friday, March 20 against Denver, a team currently receiving votes in the IWLCA National Poll.
