5.7.15 | Football
PHILADELPHIA – To celebrate National Nursing & Hospital Week, Temple head football coach Matt Rhule addressed more than 150 physicians, nurses and staff at Temple University Hospital's Endy Auditorium Thursday morning.
Throughout the program Rhule shared his thoughts on Leadership, People and Teamwork with invoked stories about his mentors including Joe Paterno and Tom Coughlin. He explained some parallels between football and health care. Said Rhule, "If you want to have a culture where you want everyone to work for a common goal, a common purpose, you better have the right people. When you find the right people, people who don't just want to do their job, but believe in excellence, people who believe in being the best that they can be. When you find those people, you keep them, you train them and you promote them."
The theme of this year's celebration was "Ethical Practice. Quality Care." Those valuable qualities are what TUH is known for throughout Philadelphia and beyond, prompting thousands of patients each year to trust their care to Temple.
In addition to Coach Rhule, Dr. James Buehler, Health Commissioner of the City of Philadelphia, spoke and also presented a proclamation to the nurses at TUH.
