Football Adds Kickoff Times for First Two Games
6.24.15 | Football
PHILADELPHIA – The long awaited kickoff time for Temple's season opening football game on Saturday, September 5, 2015, against Penn State at Lincoln Financial Field has been set for 3:30 p.m. The game will be broadcasted nationally on ESPN. The following week Temple will travel to Cincinnati for a Saturday night, American Athletic Conference tilt at 8:00 p.m. in newly refurbished Nippert Stadium. That game will air on ESPNews.
Temple and Penn State met last season at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pa. and will meet in Philadelphia for the first time since September 17, 2011. This outing will feature a rematch of head coaches when Temple's Matt Rhule faces Penn State's James Franklin. The previous four matchups between the two schools pitted a new pairing of head coach in each contest, the longest stretch in a series of 43 meetings over 84 seasons, due in large part to the coaching tenure of Joe Paterno.
Temple returns to Cincinnati for the first time since October 11, 2013 – a game remembered as then-freshmen quarterback P.J. Walker's first collegiate start. Cincinnati finished 2014 tied with Memphis and UCF for a share of the conference title.
Temple already has five nationally televised games scheduled for 2015. Kickoff times for five of the Owls' six road games are in place with four scheduled for national television in primetime. Previously, the kickoff times and networks had been announced for games at Charlotte on Friday, October 2 (7:00 p.m. / CBSSN), at East Carolina on Thursday, October 22 (7:00 p.m. / ESPN2), and at SMU on Friday, November 6 (8:00 p.m. / ESPN2).
Temple football games continue to be among the best entertainment values for enthusiastic sports fans and their families. Season ticket prices are $150 (End Zone); $199 (Sideline) and $275 (Club Level).
