Kerkhoff, Farrell Named to American Athletic Conference Preseason Lists

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Two Temple women's soccer players were tabbed to preseason conference lists, the American Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday.
Senior goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff was named Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and named to the preseason All-Conference Team. Entering her final season in a Temple uniform, Kerkhoff is the all-time career leader in save percentage (.806), goals against average (1.15) and shutouts (17). Senior midfielder Kelly Farrell was also named to the Preseason All-Conference Team. Last season, Farrell led the team with nine goals and two assists for 20 points.
The team has been picked to finish ninth in the American Athletic Conference in the coaches' preseason poll. The Owls, who finished 11-8-1 overall and 3-5-1 in conference play after its second year in the American Athletic Conference.
UConn, who won the American Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament last season, was picked to win the conference again this year. Last season, UConn beat USF in the American Athletic Conference final and made its 29th appearance in the NCAA tournament.
The Owls open their season at Ambler Sports Complex on August 21 against Fairleigh Dickinson at 4 p.m.
