Women’s Tennis Continues Play at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Temple women's tennis team entered day two of the Princeton Invitational, taking on Syracuse in singles and Princeton in two rounds of doubles.
In singles, the Owls and Orange split three sets each. Sophomore Alina Abdurakhimova picked up a victory at the first flight against Gabriela Knutson, 6-2, 6-2. Junior Dina Karina battled with Nicole Mitchell, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 at the third flight, and Minami Okajima took down Olivia Messimeo, 6-1, 6-0 at the fourth flight.
In the first round of doubles against the hosting Tigers, Temple was unable to pick up a win. In the second round, Karina and partner Mariana Bedon were the only pair of Owls to pick up a win. Bedon and Karina defeated Emily Hahn and Caroline Joyce at the second flight, 6-5 (5).
The ladies will finish play up tomorrow with a singles match against city rival Penn.
