Women’s Soccer Falls to #24 USF, 1-0
9.27.15 | Women's Soccer
TAMPA, Fla. – The Temple women's soccer team ended their weekend with a 1-0 loss to #24 USF on Sunday. The Owls move to 8-4-0 (0-0-2 The American) on the season.
The Bulls' Leticia Skeete scored the only goal of the game in the 23rd minute off assists from Olivia Chance and Trudi Carter.
Senior Kelly Farrell and sophomore Gabrielle McKeown gave the Owls two shots on goal, but USF's Kat Elliot was there to stop their chances. Freshman Jordan Nash was able to save seven of USF's shots on goal.
While the Owls didn't pick up the victory, head coach Seamus O'Connor was still very pleased with the way his squad performed against their ranked opponent.
"I'm very happy with the way the girls performed. We pushed really hard against USF and we just got unlucky in a breakdown where they scored," said O'Connor. "In the second half, we created a lot of great opportunities that were saves or just off targets. Today was another good performance from Jordan in the goal; she had a lot big saves and the defenders did a great job in front of her and let us go forward and get open."
The Owls will travel to #20 UConn on Friday to take on the American Athletic Conference champions Huskies. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
