STORRS, Conn. - The Temple women's soccer team dropped their Friday night matchup to #20 UConn, 1-0. The Owls move to 8-5-0 (0-3-0 The American) on the season.
The only score of the game came from junior Rachel Hill, who took a shot from the right side of the net and tucked it into the far corner in the 37th minute. Hill is now tied with teammate Stephanie Riberio for game-winning goals on the season with five.
The Owls had some close chances, forcing the Huskies' Emily Armstrong to make five saves. Senior Paula Jurewicz led the team with four shots, while freshman Jordan Nash added seven saves to her resume, giving her 47 on the season.
Overall, head coach Seamus O'Connor is pleased with the way the girls have played on their roadtrips as of late and is excited to get back home field advantage next week.
"The girls played two strong halves tonight. We are really close to differences; we had the chance to score in the first minute and the shot hit the crossbar and then another went wide," said O'Connor. "The differences right now are just inches - it's crazy how close these games are. I love the fact that the girls never quit and they caused UConn all kinds of problems. I'm looking forward to coming home and seeing if we can get those extra couple of inches and build up by being home."
Temple will return home to Ambler on Thursday, October 8 to face Cincinnati. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 3:00 p.m.
