Women’s Soccer Hosts Conference Matchup Against Cincinnati

PHILADELPHIA – After a three-game road slate of American Athletic Conference games, the Temple women's soccer team will come home to host Cincinnati in a Thursday afternoon match. Kickoff is at 3:00 p.m. at Ambler Sports Complex.
The Owls moved to 8-5-0, 0-3-0 The American after falling 1-0 to #20 UConn last Friday. Against the Huskies, senior Paula Jurewicz led the team with four shots. Jurewicz, along with Kaylee Harner, Elana Falcone, Kelly Farrell and Gabriella McKeown all were able to put shots near the net.
Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Nash ranks second in the conference in with 47 saves, .855 save percentage, and eight goals against her. With only 11 goals scored against them this year, the Owls are on track to allow the least amount of goals scored in a season (record is 22 set back in 1995).
Farrell is still atop the conference ranking in goals (11), points (24), goals per game (.917) and points per game (2.00). With three more goals on the season, Farrell could break the program record for most in a single season (record is 13, set back in 1994 and 1995).
Temple currently leads the American Athletic Conference in goals (31), score average (2.385) and points (78). The Owls also rank 12th nationally in goals.

Cincinnati extended their unbeaten streak to nine matches, after taking down #18 USF, 1-0 and UCF, 2-0 last week.
Against the Bulls, sophomore Jaycie Brown scored the game-winning goal in the 45th minute to give Cincinnati the lead and the win. Redshirt-junior Natalie Smith notched 10 saves in the net and picked up her fourth shutout of the season.
Freshman Jordan Cotleur scored both goals against the Knights on Sunday, marking her first multi-goal game in a Bearcats uniform. Senior Sam Pavlika recorded her fourth shutout of the season and moved to 5-0-3 as goalkeeper.
Three Cincinnati players picked up American Athletic Conference honors this week. Brown was named Offensive Player of the Week, sophomore Vanessa Gilles picked up Defensive Player of the Week and Smith grabbed Goalkeeper of the Week.
SERIES HISTORY…
The Owls and Bearcats have met only twice before this week, splitting their record 1-1-0. Last season, Temple defeated Cincinnati, 2-1 to open conference play.
