PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's tennis team continued its successful start to the spring season, shutting out visiting St. Francis Brooklyn College, 7-0.
The Owls clinched both of the doubles matches on the day, as the freshmen duo of Uladzimir Dorash and Florian Mayer took an 8-0 win at the first flight over Zurab Tskhakais and Milos Vukicevic. Vineet Naran and Hicham Belkssir helped clinch the point, defeating Martin Bedecarratz and Sacha Singh, 8-4 at the second flight.
In singles play, all of the Owls won their flights in straight-sets, including three shutouts. Ian Glessing picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at the fifth flight over Michael Sparacino, while Filip Stipcic blanked Singh, 6-0, 6-0 at the fourth flight. Freshman Artem Kapshuk continued to be successful at the second flight, picking up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Tskhakaia. Santiago Canete and Nicolas Paulus each picked up wins at the third and first flights, respectively, to wrap up the match.
The Owls will next host Wagner College at Legacy Tennis Center on February 7 at 6:30 p.m.
