Women's Tennis Continues Play at the Cissie Leary Invitational

Philadelphia, PA- Temple women's tennis resumed play yesterday afternoon at the Cissie Leary Invitational.

In the singles of flight B, on the winner's side Yana Khon was defeated by Caroline Williams from the University of Maryland 6-3 and 6-1 in the round of 16 in the winner's bracket. In the singles of flight C, Anais Nussaume bested Delia Arranz from St John's 6-1 and 6-3 to advance to the semifinals of the winner's bracket for flight C. Nussaume also defeated Annie Jaskulski of the University of Delaware 6-3 and 7-5 to advance to the finals in flight C.

In the singles of flight A, for the consolation side, Alina Abdurakhimova was defeated by Katia Blik from Penn State 6-7(5), 6-1, and 10-4. In the singles of flight B, for the consolation side, Mariana Bedon was defeated by Saya Usui from Drexel 6-3 and 6-0. In the singles of flight C, for the consolation side, Cecilia Castelli defeated Anisiya Simpson from Drexel 6-3 and 6-1. Cecilia Castelli also bested Fiorella Coria from Drexel 7-5 and 6-1.

In flight B feed-in bracket Yana Khon bounced back from her round of 16 loss and defeated Kendra Bunch from Drexel 6-4 and 1-0(ret).

In the doubles of flight B, on the winner's side, the pairings of Alina Abdurakhimova/ Cecilia Castelli was defeated by the tandem of Cheng/ Groener from William & Mary 6-3. Also, in the doubles of flight B, on the winner's side, the pairings of Galina Chernykh/ Yana Khon was defeated by the tandem of Tour/Williams from the University of Maryland 7-6(3).

In the doubles of flight A, on the consolation side, the tandem of Mariana Bedon/ Anais Nussaume was defeated by the pairing of Zordani/Yang from Yale 6-2.

Temple will resume play today at the Cissie Leary Invitational.
